<p>IMEON ENERGY has developed the &#8220;Voice Connect&#8221; application to allow users to obtain certain information by talking to their IMEON. For example, they can ask the following questions:</p>

<p>Voice interaction is possible thanks to the compatibility between the IMEON UPS and ALEXA solutions from Amazon and Google Home. The operation of the &#8220;Voice Connect&#8221; application therefore requires the purchase of specific peripherals.</p>

<p>This collaborative platform developed by IMEON ENERGY teams in partnership with the engineering school IMT Atlantique (Mines-Télécom), allows owners of IMEON inverters connected to the Web to compare the data of their solar self-consumption installations with those of other users. For example, they can compare production according to different parameters such as the orientation and inclination of the solar panels or the installed photovoltaic power.</p>
<p>This application can be a good way to ensure the proper functioning of their installation by comparing its performance with that of an installation with similar specifications.</p>

<p>Integrated into the IMEON OS. ONE operating system, the Blockchain is an innovative application developed by IMEON ENERGY and accessible free of charge to owners of an Imeon hybrid inverter.</p>
<p>IMEON Virtual Power Plant platform uses blockchain to track the energy used by network operators and owners of the solar installations managed by Imeon solar hybrid inverters. Since the VPP operators can (for example) remotely trigger the solar system to charge the batteries with energy coming from the grid, it was necessary to develop means of distinguishing energy consumed by the user to power up appliances from the energy used by the network operators in order to invoice the user correctly.</p>
<p>The blockchain is a modern technology used for decentralized storage and verification of data. Unlike most technologies, instead of using one local storage unit (such as a server) the data is stored on multiple local machines called nodes, in a file called ledger. The entries in the ledger are encrypted using cryptographic function called hash which, in addition to hiding the data, is responsible for verifying that each new entry to the ledger database comes from a verified source. Since new entries have to be verified and approved by multiple nodes, there is no possibility of making random alterations to the ledger, making the entries reliable and secure.</p>
<p>In practice, energy pushed to the batteries by a network operator, detected and measured locally by Imeon inverter can be logged as a transaction that should not be invoiced in the ledger, while energy consumed by the user can be logged as a separate transaction, one that should be invoiced. Thanks to this technology, there’s no need for additional metering structure and third-party verification.</p>

<p>IMEON has developed the &#8220;Load Balancing&#8221; application in order to avoid having at certain times of the day too high electrical power calls that require drawing energy from the public electricity grid.</p>
<p>For example, let&#8217;s take the example of a user who has three radiators with a unit power of 2000W in his house:</p>
<p>&#8211; Without the &#8220;Load Balancing&#8221; application, the three radiators can start operating simultaneously and generate a power demand of 6000W (not counting the other electrical appliances operating in the home at that time). If this user is equipped with an IMEON 3.6, the inverter will be able to supply a maximum of 3000W from the solar panels and the battery and then the missing 3000W will be taken from the public grid and charged by the electricity supplier.</p>
<p>&#8211; With the &#8220;Load Balancing&#8221; application, the three heat sinks will be set up as movable and interruptible loads. In this case, the IMEON inverter will stop the operation of two of the heat sinks (by opening an external relay) if all three start operating at the same time in order to avoid exceeding the power of the inverter and drawing power from the public grid. When the first heatsink stops working, then the inverter will activate the second heatsink, then when the second heatsink stops, the IMEON will activate the third heatsink. This operation does not change the comfort of the house in any way, but allows the energy savings to be optimised by smoothing the house&#8217;s load curve (or consumption profile).</p>

<p>Integrated into the IMEON OS. ONE operating system, the &#8220;EV Charger&#8221; is an innovative application developed by IMEON ENERGY and accessible free of charge to owners of an Imeon hybrid inverter.</p>
<p>The main purpose of the &#8220;EV Charger&#8221; application is to increase the self-consumption rate of a solar installation by starting the charging of an electrical car when it is connected to a charging station and an excess of solar production has been detected. The main advantage of this solution is that it is possible, via the OCPP protocol, for the IMEON inverter to send a load instruction with a power corresponding exactly to the excess energy. The charging station will then modulate its load power in order to use only energy generated by the solar system and not to draw electricity from the public grid.</p>
<p>The Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) is a communication protocol that basically allows the exchange of information and/or the sending of instructions between electrical car, charging stations and a central management system (to create an infrastructure similar to a phone network, for example). The initial version of this application was written by Joury de Reuver and Franck Buve. This protocol was created at the initiative of the Dutch foundation ELLaadNL with the main goal of creating an open protocol that would allow charging stations of different brands around the world to communicate with each other.</p>

<p>Integrated into the IMEON OS. ONE operating system, the &#8220;Full Charge&#8221; is an innovative application developed by IMEON ENERGY and accessible free of charge to owners of an Imeon hybrid inverter.</p>
<p>The lifetime of a battery depends on various factors including the temperature, the depth of discharge as well as charge and discharge currents applied during its operation. It is equally important to keep in mind that the battery bank connected to the inverter needs to be fully recharged on a regular basis.</p>
<p>In order to optimize the overall efficiency of a solar self-consumption system, Imeon inverters only store the excess solar production in the batteries and depending on the time of year, the amount of excess energy may not be sufficient to ensure complete and regular recharge of the batteries. This is when the &#8220;Full Charge&#8221; application operates!</p>
<p>To set up this application, the user will first configure two separate time intervals in the application’s interface, both varying from 1 to 7 days. If the battery does not reach a 100% state of charge within the first programmed time, the Imeon inverter will automatically change the priority of use of the solar production to charge the battery. If after change of priority, the battery has still not reached a 100% State Of Charge within a second time interval set by the user, the Imeon will then initiate a full charge of the batteries by taking power from the public electricity grid.</p>

<p>The innovation lies in the fact that this analysis is provided without the need to install specific sensors for each device, using Imeon to detect the unique electrical signature of the appliance. Each electronic load, when powered by an AC source creates a specific harmonic distortion of the AC waveform. The distortion can be detected and used to identify the particular appliance when it is switched on. Thanks to the use of this technique and without the need to add any hardware components, the Imeon inverters can now detect, measure and register not only the global electricity consumption of the installation site, but also the consumption of individual appliances.</p>
<p>The information can be extremely useful for owners planning on creating more energy efficient households, since it allows them to identify the appliances which consume the most power, to consider an upgrade or a replacement. Furthermore, the information concerning energy consumption of a particular device can influence the habits of its owner. If for instance a standby consumption of a TV amounts to a non-negligible value over a course of a month, the user may decide that it’s more interesting to switch it off completely.</p>
<p>Thanks to the “Consumer Identification” feature the household owners can become more conscious of their energy consumption patterns and achieve the energy autonomy with ease.</p>
