In a self-consumption photovoltaic system including a storage section, the solar battery plays an important role. Two types of batteries are most commonly used: lithium and lead acid ones.
Lead-acid batteries, used for decades (GEL, AGM, OpZs, OpZv, VRLA…) are giving way to lithium batteries, lighter, with higher energy densities and longer life spans.
When designing your photovoltaic installation which includes a solar battery, it is important to ensure compatibility of the chosen storage system with the IMEON inverter. The management of a lithium solar battery is complex and requires a development effort to assure that the communication between the battery BMS and the IMEON EMS is effective. Without such communication, the use of a lithium solar battery presents significant risks (explosions, fires …).
